Tölvuorðabókin - various
procedures
This page shows some procedures for various specific tasks. It is recommended that you
download an updated version of the program before you undertake some of these tasks:
Download an updated version of Tölvuorðabókin.
PROCEDURES
Installing onto a network
- Please use the CD to install the software
package onto your network server. This can be done from the server itself or from a
workstation that has full access rights to the location (drive and folder) that will be
used.
- Install an updated version from the floppy
disk included in the package or, better still, download the latest version from the link
at the top of this page.
- From each workstation, find the location
of the installed program and run the file Setup.exe. This will install the software on the
client.
- If you prefer to achieve a "silent
setup", which means that the setup program will run without any user intervention
requests on clients, please read further instructions in the Readme.wri file located in
the program's folder.
Remove Tölvuorðabókin
Below is a quick way to remove
Tölvuorðabókin. The procedure does not completely remove everything. If you need to do
that, see next procedure.
- Use the Add/Remove Programs
icon in Control Panel (Start-button, Settings, Control Panel) to remove everything that
the uninstallation program is capable of removing.
- The uninstallation routine will probably
report that it couldn't remove all components. This is due to the fact that when you run
Tölvuorðabókin it creates some files, such as the supplementary dictionary, that the
uninstallation just shouldn't remove, because a supplementary dictionary can conceivably
contain some additions from the user. You must, therefore, remove these files by hand if
you don't want them anymore. Start Windows Explorer, find the folder that contains
Tölvuorðabókin (usually C:\Program Files\Ordabok or C:\Ordabok) and delete the files
from the folder. Note that the file Auka.dal may contain dictionary entries from the user,
but if you are confident that you haven't modified or created new entries in the program,
you can delete this file as well.
It should be noted that even if you
remove Tölvuorðabókin and then install it again, this does not subtract
from the number of times you are allowed to register your licence. Your licences only
decrease if the CD-number is registered on a different computer or on the same computer
after Windows been removed and reinstalled.
Remove Tölvuorðabókin completely
- From Tölvuorðabókin, use Kostir-Taka
Tölvuorðabókina út úr Word to remove the program's menu commands from the
Tools menu in Word.
- Use the Add/Remove Programs
icon in Control Panel (Start-button, Settings, Control Panel) to remove everything that
the uninstallation program is capable of removing.
- The uninstallation routine will probably
report that it couldn't remove all components. This is due to the fact that when you run
Tölvuorðabókin it creates some files, such as the supplementary dictionary, that the
uninstallation just shouldn't remove, because a supplementary dictionary can conceivably

from the folder. Note that the file Auka.dal may contain dictionary entries from the user,
but if you are confident that you haven't modified or created new entries in the program,
you can delete this file as well.
- Delete the file Ordaalda.ini from the
Windows folder. This file contains path information, and it's especially important to
remove this file if you're going to install the program to a different location in your
computer.
- If you're going to install the program to a
different location, you can now install it and choose a new location.
It should be noted that even if you
remove Tölvuorðabókin and then install it again, this does not subtract
from the number of times you are allowed to register your licence. Your licences only
decrease if the CD-number is registered on a different computer or on the same computer
after Windows been removed and reinstalled.
Licence
Registration
- Please select the menu Hjálp and
click on Leyfisskráning.
- Select the button Internet (if
you want to register through the Internet) or the button Hringja (if you
want to register with the aid of a service representative).
- If you selected Hringja, skip
to item 6 below.
- Please type the requested information
about you or your company into the window that appears now. This part of the registration
is not mandatory but it establishes a connection between us and you as a user and buyer.
It's also a good way to ensure that you get future updates at update prices. Confirm the
registration with the button Skrá or use the button Hætta við to
skip.
- Type the CD number on your software
package into the fields in the next window. The press the Skrá button to confirm. If you
get a message that reads "Skráningin hefur verið gerð..." the registration

- If you selected the Hringja button,
you will see a window that shows the phone number you must call. If you're calling from
outside Iceland you must prefix the number with the Icelandic country code 354. You will

sequence until you get a different number sent in e-mail from us.
- Type the new number into the lower line of
edit fields.
- Press the button Skrá leyfi.
Possible solutions to problems that can't be resolved by
other means
Here you'll find several general solutions
that may solve problems that aren't addressed in Alnet's documentation. The solutions are
listed by priority.
- Download an updated version of
Tölvuorðabókin.
- Restart the computer and try starting the
program again.
- Delete the file Ordaalda.ini from the
Windows folder (or Winnt folder).
- Delete the file Auka.dal from the program's
folder, if you haven't made any additions to the dictionary.
- Uninstall the program and reinstall (see
above).
- Reinstall the Windows system.
- In some cases the problem may stem from a
relationship between Microsoft Office and Tölvuorðabókin. Therefore, you might want to
try to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office.
